Help & Guide

Learn how to use our card grading system and get the most accurate results

Grading Criteria

Overall Condition

General assessment of the card's overall state

Grade Levels:

Poor:Heavy wear, creases, stains, or damage
Fair:Moderate wear with visible imperfections
Good:Light wear with minor imperfections
Excellent:Minimal wear, near perfect condition
Mint:Perfect or near-perfect condition

Centering

How well the image is positioned within the card borders

Measured from 1-10 scale. Perfect centering (10) means the image is exactly centered with equal borders on all sides.

Corners

Sharpness and condition of the card corners

Sharp, intact corners receive higher scores. Rounded, bent, or damaged corners lower the grade.

Edges

Condition of the card edges and borders

Clean, straight edges without chips, nicks, or rough cutting receive higher scores.

Surface Quality

Overall surface condition including scratches, print quality, and gloss

Pristine surface without scratches, print dots, or other surface imperfections.

Photography Tips

Good Lighting

Use natural light or bright, even artificial lighting. Avoid dim conditions.

Avoid Glare

Position lighting to minimize reflections and glare on the card surface.

Fill the Frame

Make sure the card takes up most of the photo with minimal background.

Keep it Flat

Place the card on a flat surface to avoid shadows and distortion.

Pro Tip

For the most accurate grading, use a smartphone camera or digital camera rather than a webcam. The higher resolution and better optics will capture card details more clearly, leading to more accurate assessments.
